Latest Updates from Our Project:

Lore Within Lore
over 5 years ago – Thu, Dec 24, 2020 at 08:38:36 PM

Thank you all so much for supporting and below you will see the outline of the update:

We like to provide little outlines to every update to help you see what is in the update. Your time is important, and we do not want to waste it, if not needed!

Myths - a traditional story, especially one concerning the early history of a people or explaining some natural or social phenomenon, and typically involving supernatural beings or events.

  •  Example: A book about dragons and giants having constant wars, a book about elven myths saying that the elves were made by clouds, gold, and silver with divine magic placed into them, or an of a Lich who captures travelers and uses them to breed his own underground country to worship him.

Legends - a traditional story sometimes popularly regarded as historical but unauthenticated.

  •  Example: A book about a Rogue who stole a kingdom, and marries into Royalty, a book that speaks of a minotaur that lives in the sewers of a great city, or a or a book of a druid once respected by the high elves until he went mad and led an army of rats to plague elven kind.

As you all may or may not be aware, art is expensive but there are two types of people. Those who retain lots of information by reading it and those who are more visually inspired. So, we decide to include both a large amount of art and an extensive amount of information to be used for world-building and your homebrew games.

All content for the books of the Voyages of the Vagabond has been drafted and the illustrations are started and ongoing. From the get-go, we pledged that this book must be visually stunning. We want the images to be amazing, but we still need your help with sharing, talking about, and getting people to help support!

I hope everyone has a happy holidays! Be safe and enjoy every bit that you can!

Magical & Mechanical

Thank you all so much for supporting and below you will see the outline of the update:

We like to provide little outlines to every update to help you see what is in the update. Your time is important, and we do not want to waste it, if not needed!

The Lift Mod-155e is a working mount produced by the Tinker Gnomes who dwell around the city of Crossroads. This machine was first envisioned by Tikin Wigglespindle. Obviously, this construct is not made in the wilds but despite that, I would like to discuss the process that goes on day to day with this machine.

  • The Tinker Gnomes are ingenious in so many ways that often tasks that leave most of the races baffled with how to solve. The tinker gnomes can overcome their size by creating massive machines that are simply filled with liquid fuel to keep them working. The main avenues and warehouses are filled with these machines that can lift, carry, rotate, and transport hundreds of pounds of materials every day. The right storage, organization, and transport of products within their facilities are critical to the effectiveness of this race’s survival. If it were not for these inventions and other advanced technological devices, then this race would not have been allowed to truly grow at the rate they have thus far.
  • The mounts are truly under the control of those who operate them. While many gnomes who learn to operate these machines go under extensive training, not all who purchase them decide to take on the training required to be able to operate them effectively. A few of these machines are destroyed every year by ignorant or inexperienced operators. Even more, have lost lives to the same types of operators by the operator being over comfortable with the operation and decide to not pay attention to those around them.

With the high level of magic found in many fantasy RPG campaigns, enchanted vehicles designed to soar through the air are not beyond the realm of possibility. After all, what use are cloud kingdoms, sky realms, and other areas high above the earth if adventurers have no means of traveling to them? Magic such as fly and similar spells are too limited to make travel simple for characters. Furthermore, without some form of reliable transportation, the sky kingdoms would lack the ability to carry on any meaningful trade or migrations. Thus, skyships represent the most common method for non-flying creatures to take to the air.

The Lift Mod-155e is a working mount produced by the Tinker Gnomes who dwell around the city of Crossroads. This machine was first envisioned by Tikin Wigglespindle. The gnomish people are obviously a small race in the physical department but truly they have some of the biggest of dreams.

The Lift Mod-155e is a multi-directional mechanical device that eliminates the need for large gnomish work parties. This working mount can make easy right-angle turns, that allow for the Tinker Gnomes to truly pack their warehouses to the brim by reducing the aisle width needed for long load handling and bulky loads. This beautiful machine features a unique four-directional travel mode that enables outstanding maneuverability and efficiency and results in less work despite the occasionally smashed gnome.

Living By Plunder

  •  Recruitment - Those rejected from society always seek someone to understand them. For young mages without their community’s support, this group gives that understanding. Arcane inclined youth may not have the same means to get the education needed to excel as those in wealthier castes. This can also lead them to join the Enigmas, so that they may steal the knowledge they seek.
  •  Requirements - One must be capable of using the magic of first level or higher. An excessive number of those with fiendish blood and elves join the organization. This is due to the innate spellcasting of these races. Hunger for arcane knowledge is almost always a characteristic of the Enigma members. A willingness to go to any lengths to get it is a great addition. All these mages have a sense of deserving more than their circumstances have given them.
  •  Orientation - Would-be Enigma members must be interviewed by the designated evaluator. The current evaluator is L’llael Thefarliza, ascribe with a penchant for the theatrical. L’lleal conducts an interview with the recruit. He uses divination magic to glean the truth and push beyond the surface of answers. After this conversation, he takes stock of the recruit’s magical abilities. This is mostly to place the recruit with a suitable mentor.

I hope you enjoyed this quick look into the nomad clan known as The Fire Enigmas.

I’ve probably have not been a GM as long as some of you grandmasters, and I am honored to have experienced GM's on this project. Yet I do enjoy being the game master, building new characters, creating new story arcs, but my real passion is world-building. Sometimes it is just nice to have a fresh idea or something to get the mind turning. Here are a few suggestions that I suggest for making interesting encounters:

  • A fresh set of clothes - I think a lot of gamemasters try to reinvent the wheel, and that can take a lot of brainpower. You can simply take a creature that is common, and make it a bit more fantastic. You can take a rug of smothering and give it a detailed description. Then instead of calling it a rug, there is no reason it could not be a blanket, a canopy, or even a scarf a character just purchased. The stats could be changed if you wish, or leave them the same and focus on weaving the story.
  • The Monstrous Baddie - You do not always have to have an aberration or monstrosity type of creature to be the world ending boss. It is just as good to take little red robin hood, who uses a beast-like wolf creature to do her bidding. Then when the players come to kill the wolf, it turns out she might be a sorceress from an immortal bloodline or even a warlock with a fey patron. This might be a little simple, but the idea is always fun.
  • The Z - Encounters that add height as an element can really change things. We all smile when the barbarian cannot do a thing about the dragon flying 60 feet about the party. It is simple but it is effective!

Projects we love!
Asunder is a dark tabletop RPG set in a world without metal where plants and insects have been transformed into living weapons and machines. Created by Adam Lawson, director of Wil Wheaton's TableTop, Spellslingers, Sagas of Sundry, and Escape the Night. It uses the Shadow of the Demon Lord game system created by Rob Schwalb.

In Asunder, the divine Essence inside humans bonded with elements of their world, allowing them to reshape plants and insects into living weapons, command beasts, grow multiple limbs, defy gravity and wield Chaos. If you have the time, then please go check them out  HERE!

Keep on sharing everyone! Thank you all and I hope you are enjoying the updates!

First off, I would like to tell you all THANK YOU! The backers are everything for this community and without all of you, I would not be able to work and create all this awesome content for you all! With your support, we have unlocked our second stretch goal!

I mean this from the bottom of my heart! THANK YOU!!!!

You are not supporting some huge companies by backing this project! You are supporting small-time artists, writers, editors, and well, of course, myself also known as Deep Dungeon Games!I really care about your thoughts, opinions, and wants! I want to know your stories about my creations and how you use them! If all goes well in the final half, we should unlock a ton of stretch goals and content for you amazing backers.

We now need your help in getting the word out! Every Kickstarter has a dip after the first week and begins to pick up during the final week!

This is your campaign as much as it is ours, so consider sharing the sample page PDF to help get people excited about it, share our social media posts, or just come follow us!

Feel free to share the below link:

In case you were wondering, we are also doing a few mechanical mounts as well!

We do little stretch goals that promote sharing and new backers coming into the project. This gives backers more content for the books and every single share can make that much of a difference that we want to give back to you all. So if we hit $80,000 in 72 hours from the time of this update all backers will gain 5 pages of additional content in the form of quests and adventure seeds for the individual terrain types, to the digital and physical versions of Terrific Terrains & Terrible Travels. From the posting of this update, the timer begins, and this content will go away forever is we do not hit this goal by December 15th. So, share all the content that you can and never forget the power of the word of mouth.

Project Sharing - We are always trying to find ways to promote this project. One of those ways is through co-sharing another project. I was definitely surprised when the creator reached out to me about sharing each other projects. This project is not game-related, but hey we all like to be clean, if this is something that interests you then check them out.

Backer appreciation update! YOU ARE ALL AMAZING AND INCREDIBLE!!
over 5 years ago – Mon, Dec 14, 2020 at 08:22:05 PM

Hey everyone thanks for your support! This update is all about you backers that come to support projects and believe in our projects. I have had the pleasure to meet a few backers through the years and every time I do, I cannot help but get super excited. I know a lot of you are backers behind a screen but to us, you are so much more than that. You are all wonderful, and we have been able to bring projects to life and stay afloat during 2020. This community is amazing, and we are seriously trying to ramp up our free content and give back to you all like you are allowing us to create for you. We have added a ton of stuff that is completely free to download on our website, and you do not even have to sign up via email! You might think that is strange, but for us, it is about the community! Honestly, if it was not for the cost of production, paying for the art and content inside, and for keeping the bills paid! I would not charge a cent for anything! I really do mean it when I say that I personally appreciate every single one of you and will work until complete exhaustion for you all! Everyone have a fantastic day today, a merry Christmas, and a happy new year; I am forever humbled to be able to create for you all! I will send a content-filled update in the next couple of days!

We do little stretch goals that promote sharing and new backers coming into the project. This gives backers more content for the books and every single share can make that much of a difference that we want to give back to you all.

So if we hit 75,000 DOLLARS in 48 hours from the time of this update all backers will gain 3 pages of additional content in the form of mechanics for beggars and rules for earning a few extra copper pieces to the digital and physical versions of Terrific Terrains & Terrible Travels. From the posting of this update, the timer begins, and this content will go away forever is we do not hit this goal by December 15th. So, share all the content that you can and never forget the power of the word of mouth.

Knowing your character from the inside out - Some GMs draw up entire backgrounds on their characters before they even start to build campaigns or build their worlds. They know where they were born, whom they first kissed, and how many fillings they have in their teeth. I do not work like that, but I do believe you need to know more about an important character than what appears in your world and you are planning to have interaction with your players. If you do not know who your character is and how he or she might react in a certain situation you will never be able to create believable NPC’s. Like all ‘real’ people, your character will have had a past that took place before the players meet them. The experiences of the past will affect how he or she reacts now.

  • Take one of the characters that already have interacted with your players, or for a freeform approach, one that has not. Ask yourself what their best and worst memories are. How do these memories affect them now? What would trigger these memories? A song? A smell? A phrase? An object? Now write a short scene in which a memory is triggered that your players might induce.
  • Ask your character to empty their pockets or their bag onto a table. What comes out? Why does your character have those things with them? Now let your character choose an object and ask them to tell you why it is important to them. It would be useful to let them speak in the first person, that way you can hear their voice.
  • This might seem a bit strange at first, but if you can put yourself into the mind of your created characters. Yet, also in the same instance be able to interact with them in your mind's eye, then your characters will come alive.
